The goals of the Healthy Masculinity Workshop are to challenge the participants to think critically about gender norms and expectations in society, engaging students to help prevent domestic violence. Veronica Stephens of Laura's House, a non-profit and shelter for victims of domestic violence, will help students understand preconceived notions of masculinity and femininity. It also explores how traditional expectations of masculinity are used to cause harm onto others. Harm is not caused by masculinity, nor is it only caused by men who perpetuate gender stereotypes. The presentation also explores evidence that proves what the significant impacts are to boys and men who are confined to traditional roles of masculinity. By the end of the presentation, participants will have the tools to redefine what masculinity means to them. Masculinity is ultimately a tool of expression and not a box that labels.
